{"id":1627,"date":"2021-04-06T17:20:14","date_gmt":"2021-04-06T15:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.toulouse-white-biotechnology.com\/insights\/actualites\/actualite\/twb-annual-report-2020\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T09:33:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T08:33:14","slug":"twb-annual-report-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.toulouse-white-biotechnology.com\/en\/insights\/blog\/news\/twb-annual-report-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"TWB Annual report 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Despite the health context and total closure of its facilities for more than 2 months, TWB achieved a turnover of \u20ac7.3M in 2020 (compared to \u20ac8.4M in 2019) and managed 61 R&amp;D projects, including 30 new ones (214 cumulative projects since the creation of TWB).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toulouse-white-biotechnology.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/capture.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12280 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.toulouse-white-biotechnology.com\/app\/uploads\/2021\/04\/capture-300x169-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">TWB secured the renewal of its French State funding: <strong>a 7 million euros grant<\/strong> which aims to support TWB over the next 5 years and reward its model of excellence in France. In addition, TWB obtained a further <strong>\u20ac1.4M in response to the latest EquipEx+ (PIA3) call for projects<\/strong> to support the acquisition of scientific equipment to the best international standards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Committed to becoming a major player in industrial biotechnology research, <strong>TWB has moved into new premises, situated on the INSA Toulouse campus, doubling its floor area<\/strong>. This new building contributes to the creatin of a 15,000 m<sup>2<\/sup> industrial biotechnology complex unique in France.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Expansion into growth markets<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">TWB continues with its development and capitalises on its experience in order to operate in those fields of application where industrial biotechnology provides a solution to new challenges:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">biomedicines<\/span>: last August, TWB received the label of industrial\u00a0 integrator for bioproduction, thus becoming one of 6 French technological platforms of the &#8216;Biomedicines Grand Challenge&#8217; launched by the General Secretariat for Investment (SGPI); <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bio-control et bio-stimulation<\/span>, the challenges of tomorrow&#8217;s agriculture;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">biomaterials<\/span>: since 2019, in partnership with ResiCare (subsidiary of Michelin) and other project partners, TWB has worked on the BioImpulse programme which aims to create a new resin based adhesive, free of worrying substances.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This diversification is part of the 2020\/2025 TWB strategy, the objective of which is to increase value creation through the use of industrial biotechnologies.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Increased action with innovative starts-ups<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 2020, TWB has become a partner of the AgriO consortium, labelled &#8220;French Tech Seed business provider&#8221; for Bpifrance, which aims to support technological start-ups of less than 3 years old, in the post-maturation phase, which engender strong, technology-intensive innovation in the agricultural, agro-industrial or food-processing sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">TWB continues its privileged collaboration with start-ups that develop original technologies, thereby broadening its service delivery.
