JNBB 2025: TWB is committed to developing the biomanufacturing of biopharmaceuticals
JNBB 2025 – Round-table discussion on digitalisation and AI, featuring Sophie Barbe (INRAE-TBI), César Aceves Lara (INSA) and François Coutard (Just – Evotec Biologics), moderated by Fayza Daboussi (TWB).
The second edition of the National Day for the Bioproduction of Biomedicines (JNBB), organised by France Biolead, brought together over 100 participants in Toulouse. The involvement of healthcare professionals, industry representatives, academics, researchers and students in exploring the drivers of transformation within a rapidly expanding sector confirms the strong commitment of the biotherapeutics sector in Occitanie.
A regional initiative for a national ambition
Organised by France BioLead, the representative body for the French biopharmaceutical production sector, and coordinated locally by the TIBH consortium (TWB, CRITT Bio-Industries, TBI), in partnership with the Lycée Stéphane Hessel, OBBI, Bio’Occ, CeBBOc, GTP Bioways, CEA Tech et Just-Evotech Biologics, this event aimed to boost the sector’s appeal, both for industry and for the talent of tomorrow.
Training the talent of tomorrow
The morning took place at the Lycée Stéphane Hessel, where visitors were able to gain an insight into the STL Biotechnology course. Laboratory tours, demonstrations of augmented and virtual reality modules, and presentations of projects led by the pupils highlighted the school’s educational and scientific potential. Inspiring talks punctuated the morning:
- “Organoids” by Drs Céline Cougoule and Agnès Wiedemann
- “Training in Occitanie” with Valérie Planat (UT, RESTORE) and Hervé Galtaud (IMT)
- “Training the talent of tomorrow”, by Sophie N’gouat (Just – Evotec Biologics)
- “The appeal of careers in the sector”, with Edouard Clément (LEEM)
An integrated offering, from research and training to the patient
The afternoon continued at CEA Tech in Toulouse-Labège, with a programme focusing on the integrated bioproduction offering in Occitanie.
This session highlighted the synergy between the various links in the regional value chain, from research to industrialisation, and the importance of integrating digital technology – particularly AI – into the sector’s development. The afternoon concluded with discussions on the sector’s appeal.
The session featured a number of highlights:
- Presentation of the region’s integrated offering by Biothérapie Innovation Occitanie, OBBI, TIBH and UT/Restore
- Round-table discussion on digitalisation and AI, featuring experts such as Sophie Barbe (INRAE-TBI), César Aceves Lara (INSA) and François Coutard (Just – Evotec Biologics)
- A discussion on the appeal of careers in the sector, featuring speakers from IMT, Cell Easy, GTP Bioways and Bio’Occ
A sector with a bright future, a region on the move
Beyond scientific and technical exchanges, JNBB 2025 was characterised by a strong focus on networking, fostering connections between academic, industrial and institutional stakeholders.
The event demonstrated once again that Occitanie is establishing itself as a key region in the development of biopharmaceutical production in France.
“This event illustrates the ability of the Occitan ecosystem to join forces to address the major challenges of health, innovation and industrial sovereignty,” emphasised the speakers at the end of the day.
