For the 3rd year, TWB organised a competition open to all European industrial biotech start-ups of 5 years old or less that offer innovative solutions. 5 start-ups pitched and presented their project in front of experts from the investment and innovation sectors: Fungus Sapiens (FR), Glowee (FR), Hoekmine BV (NL), Octarine (DK) and Zymoptiq (FR).

Danish start-up Octarine convinced the jury and won the TWB Award 2020. Octarine’s ambition is to improve the health and well-being of people worldwide through the exploitation of synthetic biology by developing rare molecules with optimized pharmacokinetic properties for the pharmaceutical industry. To achieve this, the start-up is implementing a production platform based on fermentation.

Octarine will benefit from a dedicated access to TWB’s technical platforms with a high level scientific support, valued €50K.
