Who we are

Microbial resources represent a major lever for the decarbonization of industry. Their optimal exploitation requires advanced scientific and technological expertise, ranging from strain selection and metabolic engineering to the development of industrial bioprocesses.

Whether natural or genetically optimized, microorganisms only become viable industrial solutions when their transformation into robust, efficient, and scalable processes is mastered. This step toward industrial scale is crucial to ensure the success of these applications and to fully unlock their potential, enabling a lasting reduction of the environmental and health impacts of production chains.

As a biofoundry dedicated to synthetic biology and microbial resource management, we strategically and innovatively bring together and coordinate the expertise and capabilities of a broad continuum of stakeholders—from academic research to start-ups and large industrial groups—around our core focus: microbial cell factories and the development of industrially scalable bioprocesses.

This collaborative dynamic aims to design, develop, and industrialize breakthrough biosolutions for industry, helping to sustainably reduce the environmental footprint and health impacts of production chains in fields such as chemistry, environment, energy, agriculture, health, and cosmetics.

TWB relies on the unique integration of an international consortium bringing together public research laboratories, networks, start-ups, SMEs, mid-sized companies, large industrial groups, investors, and support services. These stakeholders work closely with the scientific and technical experts of the biofoundry, enabling the co-development of large-scale projects and accelerating the industrialization of disruptive biosolutions.
