We believe that humanity must imagine new solutions to accelerate the transition of industry toward more sustainable solutions for the environment, the economy, and human health. Through the innovative power of microbial resources, we work to unlock the potential of microorganisms as catalysts for new industrial solutions that help make industry more sustainable.

A fundamental principle in biology is that unity creates strength. Through our three pillars of action, we are therefore committed to pursuing efficiency in order to accelerate the transformation of industry through industrial biotechnology.

Our mission

Accelerating the emergence of industrial biotechnology solutions

We structure scientific and technical expertise, as well as stakeholders, to act in synergy toward this goal. Our approach is built around three pillars designed to maximize efficiency and transform industrial challenges into pre-industrial solutions:

• Innovate by leveraging biotechnology as a driver of sustainability: more than 400 R&D projects already completed
• Bring together expertise and stakeholders to create powerful synergies: the TWB consortium
• Act concretely by structuring a collective dynamic in service of the industry of tomorrow: ecosystem-based co-innovation and a start-up support program.

Serving industry through complementary expertise working in synergy

For 13 years, by closely listening to industry needs, we have been committed to an efficient approach through the structuring of multidisciplinary initiatives that operate in synergy and are firmly grounded in science and technology. Our goal is to address the diversity of companies, their needs, and the scale of their ambitions.

Our strategy is built on TWB’s core expertise, covering the entire value chain: microbial cell factories and the development and optimization of bioprocesses. This work is carried out by more than 70 experts, supported by state-of-the-art platforms and a multidisciplinary ecosystem that includes the regional R&D continuum in Occitanie and the European network of IBISBA platforms.

The TWB biofoundry brings together scientific and technical expertise in genome engineering and metabolic engineering, fermentation, chemical analysis, and cytometry. It relies on four acceleration platforms equipped with cutting-edge technologies. Through several large-scale projects and strategic partnerships, TWB aims to become a pioneer in integrating modeling and artificial intelligence into industrial biotechnology.
