On Thursday 13 November, TWB invited industry stakeholders – including large corporations, mid-sized companies, SMEs and start-ups from all sectors – to the launch of its new biotechnology research and development offering.
A segmented offering, thematic communities of interest and enhanced support for start-ups are the key pillars of the new initiative launched by the industrial demonstrator to accelerate innovation in biotechnology and foster the emergence of the bioeconomy.

In Hall M, overlooking the concourse of Toulouse-Matabiau station, around fifty people are engaged in lively conversation. They are awaiting the presentation of its new ambitions and refreshed strategy by the industrial biotechnology demonstrator, TWB.
TWB reaffirms its ambitions to accelerate innovation!
With over 350 successful R&D projects and more than 70 publications and patent applications filed over the past 12 years, TWB has become much more than just a demonstration organisation. Established in 2012 as part of a call for proposals under the ‘Investment for the Future’ programme, this new player has quickly made its mark at the interface between the public and private sectors, thanks to its recognised scientific and technological expertise. What is more, it has succeeded in fostering a committed ecosystem and forging fruitful alliances to develop high-impact innovative solutions and support the industry’s far-reaching transformations. It has thus established itself as a key player in industrial biotechnology, deeply rooted and widely recognised.
At a time when the global economy is being disrupted by crises and conflicts, and when AI is revolutionising innovation processes and multiplying possibilities, the biotechnology sector is undergoing restructuring. Faced with intensified competition, TWB is rethinking its offering and providing enhanced support that is more closely tailored to its partners and clients.
TWB is embarking on a new chapter
Its new proposal aims to catalyse innovation, accelerate high-impact projects and strengthen members’ technological and industrial resilience. To this end, the joint service unit overseen by INRAE, INSA Toulouse and the CNRS offers:
- a consortium programme divided into four tiers to address partners’ strategic needs in greater detail.
- Communities of Interest dedicated to its members’ key challenges to foster the emergence of innovation
- enhanced support for start-ups through the collaboration of three Start-up Studios and the SATT TTT.
By building on its core strengths – science and technology – renewing its vision, and surrounding itself with strategic partners chosen for their expertise and ability to create value, TWB is giving new impetus to its work in order to catalyse the scientific and industrial advances of tomorrow, accelerate projects and support entrepreneurs.

The quality of the presentations and discussions on 13 November 2025, together with the enthusiasm of the participants, made this day a landmark and inspiring event for the future of biotechnology, for industrial decarbonisation and the emergence of the bioeconomy, with TWB acting, now more than ever, as a catalyst for innovation in biotechnology.
